Actor Sir Donald Sinden, historian Dr David Starkey and artist John Doyle are giving talks to help the £50million appeal to save Canterbury Cathedral.

Sir Donald, star of stage, television and radio for seven decades, will host An Evening with Donald Sinden on Wednesday, June 4.

Dr David Starkey, author and high-profile historian, will give a talk on Monday, June 9, called "why do we still have cathedrals at all?".

The talks support an exhibition and sale of paintings at the Cathedral from May 24 to June 14, entitled Houses of God organised by local watercolourist John Doyle, to support the Cathedral appeal.

Mr Doyle will also give a talk on Tuesday, May 27, about his journey following St Augustine’s footsteps from Rome to Canterbury.

*Tickets for the talks are available by contacting the fund-raising office on 01227 865346.
