Kent Specsavers spokesman Pritin Patel announces the company's support of the 21st anniversary KM Charity Walk being staged on June 26.

The KM Big Charity Walk celebrates its 21 birthday this year, and key partner Specsavers Opticians are calling for participants to support the annual fundraising event.

Matt Trusty, Kent Regional Chairman of Specsavers, said: “Over the past two decades, more than £800,000 has been raised for good causes thanks to this important fixture in the charitable calendar. We pride ourselves at being in the heart of the community, so supporting the walk in its landmark anniversary year is highly appropriate.”

Other organisations supporting the event include Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and Gullands solicitors.

Booking is now open for the Sunday, June 26 event, and ramblers have the option of both five and 10 mile treks.

Starting and concluding at Maidstone’s Grade II Georgian mansion Mote House, walkers will pass through much charming Kentish countryside as well as Leeds Castle; also known as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’.

All participants will be presented with a limited edition medal upon return, as well as garden party complete with live music and a barbecue.

Sophie Wallace, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the event, said: “For over 20 years, the walk has provided local people with a fantastic challenge day housed in Kent’s natural beauty. Following last year’s success which raised a huge £20,000 for charity, we are keen to go bigger and better in our 21 year.”

Booking is charged at £11.50 per adult and children under 16 go free. Walkers are encouraged to gain sponsorship for their ramble.
