Primary school art and creative writing contest Perfect Packed Lunch is now open for entries such as superhero-inspired meals

As Batman takes on Superman, and Captain America prepares to face Iron Man, there is no better time to engage your inner hero and create a Perfect Packed Lunch.

A crime-fighting superhero needs energy to keep going and keep our planet safe, and that's where the competition comes in.

Primary school children are invited to devise a genuine or fantasy packed lunch by drawing or painting a picture of the meal, as well as supplying a creative writing piece explaining why it is so special.

Every entry will be turned into an online recipe card displaying the work of the child entrant. Judges will pick the winners to invite to an awards ceremony at the prestigious Turner Contemporary Gallery, Margate where their work will go on display.

Children must select one of the 12 categories for their lunch entry which include: Princess, Pirate Captain, Famous Artist, Knight, Book Character, Celebrity, Healthy, Cheesy, Fantasy, Fairytale, Historic and the aforementioned Superhero.

Once the meal and written pieces are complete, they need to be submitted to awards organisers The KM Charity Team by noon on May 13.
