AN ORGANIC garden centre is to shut with the potential loss of seven jobs.

The charity Garden Organic has confirmed it no longer has the cash to keep Yalding Organic Gardens, in Yalding near Maidstone, running.

Myles Bremner, chief executive of the Coventry-based organisation, said that, where possible, staff would be offered other posts within the charity.

He said: "At this stage, the future of the site has not yet been decided but we will work in partnership with the Congelow Trust, the owners of the site, to maintain its upkeep and look for organisations to take over its running."

The organic gardens opened in 1996.
