Tickets are virtually sold out for a major charity concert aimed at improving the quality of life for four Thanet youngsters with rare and incurable illnesses.

Performance, Comedy and Dance will provide entertainment for all ages at the Winter Gardens on Sunday, October 5.

Although there are few seats left, last minute donations are invited of raffle prizes and cash towards helping children who have spent a majority of their young lives in hospital.

Vital sponsorship worth at least £1,000 for posters, artwork, advertising and the programme, has been provided by Lloyd Guinan and Rob Delderfield of Designer Signs UK of Garlinge.

The show has again been organised by Philippa Myhill, mum of six-year-old Kallum who has primary ciliary dyskinesia, a serious life-limiting genetic illness, and chronic asthma.

Some of the money raised will go towards PCD Family Support Group and to fund research into and provide support for asthma sufferers.

Other cash raised will help fund research into Turners Syndrome which afflicts four-year-old Grace Williams.

Sufferers have growth problems, are infertile and commonly have heart and lung defects, learning difficulties and juvenile arthritis.

Ralph Mattison-Evans, 18 months, has scarcely been out of hospital due to the terminal condition nemaline myopathy, or floppy baby syndrome.

His care, just to keep him breathing and comfortable as possible, is intense and demanding and proceeds from the show will help improve his quality of life.

Philip Hoare, eight, from Ramsgate, will also benefit. He suffers from the progressive and debilitating Spinal Muscular Atrophy and his family are desperate to take him on literally the holiday of a lifetime to Disneyland, Paris, while he is still able to travel.

They are also saving through The Philip Fund for specially adapted transport essential to get him out and about in his wheelchair as he grows.

The show will be compered by Ronnie Windsor and the entertainers will include Thanet Stage School, Dame Janet Community Junior School, singer Emma Baggus, Simple Simon and Yamaha School of Music.

Special performers will include Mrs Myhill in a mystery role as well as Kallum and his sister Millie.

In 2007, the event raised nearly £6,000.

The concert is at 5pm and tickets are £9 or £6.50 for concessions. They can be booked on 01843 296111
