KSS: Here’s how you can help your local life-saving charity

Sponsored Editorial

Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) saves lives when every second counts. KSS is an independent charity at the forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) nationally and internationally.

But this incredible charity is in urgent need of funds and you can help with a donation that will not only help save more lives but you could also have your name on the helicopter.

.

In 2023 KSS was called to respond to a record number of over 3,300 incidents.

It costs £18.8 million a year or £51,000 per day to operate this world-leading, life-saving service with 88% of the charity’s total income raised through the incredible generosity of supporters.

KSS serves a population of 4.8million plus a transient population of 90 million people. Over the past 35 years the charity has been tasked to over 43,000 incidents, saving lives and improving patient outcomes in communities across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

.

Team KSS is a highly skilled, diverse multi-disciplinary team of doctors, paramedics, dispatchers and pilots, as well as teams of other expert staff and volunteers across a wide range of specialisms and interests.

The world is unpredictable, and medical emergencies happen, changing lives forever. That’s why KSS has dedicated the last 35 years to saving lives and providing cutting-edge, pre-hospital critical care.

The charity is a vital part of the community, people’s lives and people’s safety. Team KSS is driven by a collective purpose of saving lives and ensuring the best possible outcomes for all its patients.

.

Time is critical

KSS dispatchers task its crews of pilots, doctors and paramedics, along with specialist equipment, to patients 24/7, 365 days a year.

These highly-skilled teams operate at the cutting edge of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). They perform life-saving emergency chest and heart surgical procedures, deliver emergency anaesthesia and administer blood transfusions to patients suffering from life-threatening blood loss.

They can do all of this at the side of a road, on a beach, in a park – wherever and whenever they’re needed the most.

.

With your support KSS can achieve more

Every life matters and with your support KSS can give every patient the best possible chance of survival and recovery.

The KSS urgent £1 million fundraising appeal, ‘Buy it for Life’, is raising the final funds needed so that it can own, rather than lease, its second helicopter.

Owning rather than leasing its air ambulance will save KSS almost half a million pounds a year which will enable it to drive forward with its plans to fly for six more hours every day, meaning it can reach more patients and save even more lives.

.

As part of the appeal, and for the first time ever, supporters are being given the unique opportunity to have their name on the helicopter.

Anyone donating £100 or more can have their name, name of a friend or family member, team, community group or business, or the name of a loved one in their memory, on the air ambulance – making them a part of every lifesaving mission.
