Organisers of this year’s Canterbury Half-Marathon hope to donate a record amount to charity.

The event last month was in aid of the Pilgrims Hospicess in East Kent and over the past three years, £45,000 has been donated.

David Denne, chairman of the fund-raising committee, said: “We are expecting to report record figures this year.

“The generosity of those who ran, and those who supported the runners, has been exceptional.”

He urged the runners not to delay sending in their sponsorship money.

Cheques should be made out to the Pilgrims Hospices and sent to 56 London Road, Canterbury, CT2 8JA.
