Over the top! A participant in last year's charity abseil

There is still time to sign up for an abseil challenge being staged to support our charity of the year, the Canterbury branch of the RSPCA.

Fifty people are needed to take part in an abseil off the seven-storey Fisher Tower at Canterbury Christ Church University on Saturday, June 14.

To take part, participants must raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship.

Proceeds from the event will be divided between the Canterbury branch of the RSPCA, which is fund-raising to build an animal rescue centre at Hersden and will receive 70 per cent of the funds raised, and the children's road safety charity Kent Walking Bus Project, which will receive 30 per cent.

Event organisers are appealing for sponsors to come forward to help fund the cost of the abseils.

Three sponsors are needed with each paying £650 to support the mammoth charity event.

For information or to become the third sponsor, contact Simon Dolby on 07989 164752.
