Buster’s Big Bash is staged at Canterbury’s Dane John Gardens on Saturday, May 14 and serves as an annual celebration for all schools across the county who take part in KM Charity Team green travel and home reading initiatives.

Key partners Kent Sport will be supplying every child with a goody bag, as well as encouraging them to take part in the sporting activities on the day such as Space Hoppers, go-karting and ‘Beat the Goalie’.

Carolyn Dool, Sports Projects Officer for Kent Sport, said: “We are excited to be involved with this year’s Buster’s Big Bash. Not only is it great that literacy and walking to school are celebrated, but also that children and young people are being encouraged to be physically active to improve their health and wellbeing.”

Throughout April to June, Kent Sport will be running the #MySportyStory campaign designed to help children and young people express their feelings towards sports and physical activity. Incorporating social media, blogging and videography, the scheme aims to celebrate just how much sports and leisure impacts upon a person’s life.

As well as plenty of sports and games to choose from at Buster’s Big Bash, KM Walk to School and home reading participants will also enjoy fantastic entertainers and take part in two record attempts including the biggest teddy bears picnic and the longest walking ‘crocodile’ that has ever filled a Kent street.

Buster’s Big Bash is free to attend for all school children involved with KM Walk to School including Walk on Wednesday (WOW), Active Bug, Walking Bus and Green Footsteps, and home reading schemes Buster’s Book Club and Reading Bug.
