Festive charity effort

Despite the Credit Crunch people have been generously donating boxes of goodies to send those less fortunate.

Pupils at Queenborough School and Nursery (formerly Queenborough First School), Eastchurch Primary School, and members of Minster Road Baptist Church, have for the past three weeks been filling shoe boxes with clothes, toiletries, and stationary to send to Eastern Europe.

Eighty five boxes have been filled to the delight of Rev Steve Barber, minister of the church, who will gather the boxes before arranging for them to be shipped in time for Christmas.

He said: “I am delighted, I was surprised to get so many because of the credit crunch. The children certainly understand just how little other have and have done it for the right reasons.”
