A young girl's fight against leukaemia has inspired her classmates to raise funds for charity.

Eleanor Slater, seven, is nearly out of remission.

Her ordeal inspired pupils at Wickhambreaux Primary School to stage a music marathon in aid of Children with Leukaemia.

Eleanor was diagnosed in 2004 and underwent intensive chemotherapy over two years during which she lost her hair and was left weak and fighting infection.

Her spirits were lifted by her classmates who sent her messages of support.

Music teacher Lucy Gove said: “The leukaemia charity is important to the school because of Eleanor’s experience."
