THE proceeds of a charity golf day hosted by Denne Construction have been presented to the Kent Walking Bus.

More than 60 staff, clients and sub contractors of Denne Construction took part in the golfing day, dinner and auction at Boughton Golf Club in October, raising £5,000 for the award winning children's road safety charity.

The charity, which supports more than 130 organised walks to school in Kent and Medway is helping to teach primary school children vital road safety skills as well as promoting fit and healthy lifestyles for children.

In the last academic year more than 100,000 school run car journeys were taken off Kent's roads by Walking Buses.

Denne, who are a founder sponsor of the charity, hosted the golf day to encourage staff and clients to back the cause and to help raise awareness of its activities.

Graham Brown, Managing Director of Denne Construction, said: "The day was a fantastic success with guests showing great support for this special Kent charity. The health, environmental and road safety benefits of Walking Buses are so important and I am delighted that the people we work with embraced the charity event."

Charity chairman Simon Dolby said: "Denne's commitment to the charity has been outstanding. Its funding allowed us to take on our first member of staff and create what is now viewed as a national leader in its field. None of this would have been possible if Denne Construction had not recognised the value of our work. I and the charity's Trustees are so grateful and are overwhelmed at this latest donation."
