AN ADVENTUROUS spirit is not the only driving force behind mother of two Dawn Rose's plan to trek through Peru.

She is also planning to raise money for the National Autistic Society after discovering this year that her youngest son Linus, three, is autistic.

The 43-year-old, who lives at London Road, Wrotham Heath, plans to trek to Machu Picchu in Peru from May 15 to May 24 this year.

The trek, organised by the NAS, will follow the lost Inca trail through the Andes, climbing for over a week at altitude, and averaging about 20 to 25 miles per day.

Mrs Rose, who works as a buying manager for House of Fraser in London, said her personal experience had made her realise how much support organisations like the NAS need.

She said: "This year it has been hard coming to terms with having a problem child who looks normal to everyone but who clearly isn't. Now I want to help in any way I can and help raise a minimum of £2,500 to go towards the NAS. "

Mrs Rose is hoping to receive support from the local community, for her South American challenge.

All money raised will go towards improving NAS adult services. Anyone who would like to help Mrs Rose or offer sponsorship can contact her by calling 01732 884026
