SISTERS Linda Sharpe and Anita Phillips, above, were among more than 1,500 runners who took part in the Cancer Research UK 10k at Leeds Castle near Maidstone at the weekend.

Mrs Phillips, 39, from Grove Green, Maidstone, said they ran in memory of their father, Derek, who died of cancer in 1987. They hope to raise £300 between them.

She said: “It was a very hard course, muddy, slippery and hilly, but we did it. Our dad would have been chuffed.”

Organisers hope the charity run on Sunday will have raised about £92,000.
