Brewer backs Big Quiz

The Canterbury KM Big Quiz will be dubbed the No Nonsense quiz this year following a sponsorship deal with Scottish and Newcastle UK.

The country's leading brewer and cider producer has given its blessing to the event organisers to use the John Smith's No

Nonsense slogan to promote the charity event.

S&N UK have agreed to donate beer and cider that will be sold to raise additional money for charity at each of the four Big Quiz events due to be staged in 2009.

They will also provide a venue for the county final in December.

The Canterbury KM Big Quiz takes place at Kent University's Sports Centre

on Friday, May 1.

The causes that will benefit are the League of Friends of Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Kent Kids' Miles of Smiles, the Lady Mayoress of Canterbury’s Charity Appeal and children's road safety charity Kent Walking Bus.

Big Quiz organiser Simon Dolby said: "This is fantastic news. Having

Scottish and Newcastle on board will make this important charity event all

the more successful."

Scottish and Newcastle regional manager Ian Dray said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to involve our brands with important community causes and show how much we care for the charities that matter to the

people of Kent."

In addition to Kent University, other sponsors of the Canterbury KM Big Quiz 2009 are P&O Ferries, Parry Law and Barclays Bank.
