The annual fundraising event is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, and Benenden Hospital Trust are calling for walkers to support their cause.

Jane Abbott, Hospital Director at Benenden Hospital Trust, said: "We are simply thrilled to be an active part of the Charity Walk on its 21st birthday. Rather fittingly, the walk will conclude with a big garden party complete with live music and fresh food to say thanks to all for taking part."

She added: "If you are taking part and looking for a charity to support, please do think about Benenden, or Rising Mercury which raises funds on behalf of the hospital and is designed to heighten all our patients' experience."

Booking is now open for the family challenge event which takes place on Sunday, June 26.

Starting and concluding at Maidstone’s Grade II Georgian mansion Mote House, walkers have the option to take part in both five and 10 miles treks.

Wanderers will pass through much charming Kentish countryside as well as Leeds Castle; also known as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’.

All participants will be presented with a limited edition medal upon return at the garden party.

Sophie Wallace, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the event, said: “Benenden Hospital Trust offer an invaluable service to so many people across the county and we hope many people choose to fundraise for them. Last year's walk raised a huge £20,000 for good causes and our aim to smash this target figure this year."

Booking is charged at £11.50 per adult and children under 16 go free. Walkers are encouraged to gain sponsorship for their trek and can fundraise for their favourite charitable causes, or ones directly liked with the event.

The KM Charity Walk is supported by Specsavers, Gullands Solicitors, Cotswold Outdoor, Audley and Benenden Hospital Trust.
