Animal rescue centre open day raised thousands

The plight of unwanted animals and the care they receive touched the hearts of visitors to the TAG Pet Rescue centre open day.

Homes were offered to some of the lucky ones while £4,600 of vital funds were generated through a number of stalls, attractions and an auction.

Debbie Channing from Thanet Animal Group said: “Thanks go to everyone who turned out to support us, particularly because the first planned open day was cancelled due to the poor weather.

“However, on the rearranged date the weather was great. Praise is due to the admirable teamwork of TAG's dedicated volunteers who were there on the day manning the stalls, marshalling the traffic and car park, and who turned out at 5am to scrub, clean and feed all our waifs and strays.

“Excellent music came from the rock and roll band This Little Girl, and we must also thank the kind and supportive farmers for the use of their land and equipment; the public and local businesses who responded so well to our appeals for home-made goodies and gifts for the stalls and our auction, plus the residents of Lydden who tolerated the huge increase in the volume of people and traffic for the second year running.

“It is truly amazing to see how caring people can come together to form this terrific teamwork for a local charity. Well done everyone.”
