“We are all very passionate about korfball and our final game of the season acted as a means of reflection on our performance as a group over the year.

“It emphasised individual player growth within our team over the course of the season, not only as various players have represented England but also by the increased confidence of younger players within our team.

“We are all very thankful for Sparshatt Truck & Van’s sponsorship and are excited to see what next season brings.”

Sparshatt Truck & Van, a Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealership that has four sites in Kent, sponsored the club by funding the training kits for the Tornadoes’ second team over the course of the 2022/2023 season.

Club chairperson Richard Woodham added: “The 2022/2023 season ended with a flurry of finals for both our junior and senior teams, and we are so incredibly proud of our second team who have won the South East Regional League.

“Having the support from Sparshatt Truck & Van enabled many more opportunities to share everything korfball and bring this awesome sport into more lives.

“Korfball, a rapidly growing sport in the UK, is one of the only truly diverse and inclusive sports out there and it is our absolute passion to introduce it to more people, both young and old, both male and female.”

Tornadoes Korfball Club and Academy are one of the most successful UK clubs and are supported by some of the most experienced coaches in the country, with the majority of them being England first-team players. The club have brought together players of different ages and abilities and developed a programme to take korfball into schools.

Dave Buckland, head coach and a former England coach, said: “We have again had a great season. Our second team is a very young and talented group of players, the future is bright.”

Tornadoes train at Chatham Grammar School every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and play their matches on Saturdays.
