Former England player Simon Ramsden believes he can use his experience of international hockey to good effect at Holcombe Park.
The 26-year-old defender will make his debut against Old Loughtonians in the Men’s Conference East on Saturday, and is keen to play his part in a promotion push.
Ramsden, who has played for Canterbury and Cannock, joined Holcs after being impressed by the set-up.
He said: “There is a good set-up at Holcombe and it is a good pitch. There are plenty of youngsters coming through.”
Ramsden won a call-up for England two years ago, but had his progress halted by a dislocated shoulder.
He added: “It was disappointing. After that I couldn’t commit the time for training as I was working full-time. But it was a great honour.”
