Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh has ran out of patience with some of his players.

A midweek EFL Trophy defeat to Millwall has left the manager with no choice but
to act.

Gillingham face Oldham at home on Saturday and Edinburgh is ready to shake things up.

He said: “I am responsible for the team and now I have to start looking at individuals and make them accountable. We can’t continue to keep giving people chances.

“I don’t like losing. It is not something that has become a habit since I have been here. That is not something I enjoy.

“It is something we are not used to, it’s not something the crowd have been used to, but the buck stops with me.

“I have to rectify it and that is what myself and my staff are working hard to do. We won’t sleep well until we do that.”

And he added: “I have got the resolve, the fight and the desire to put it right.”

A catalogue of injuries this season is not helping the Gills, who this time last year were battling for top spot in League 1.

“We are restricted,” said Edinburgh.

“Some people are hanging on by the skin of their teeth at the moment, perhaps because none other than the fact there are not enough personnel around. Once that is the case then unfortunately they won’t be hanging on for much longer."

“At the moment unfortunately some of the team picks itself and that is not good and not good competition."
