It’s the latest success for the teenager, a member of Pegasus Gymnastics Club in Maidstone, having helped his country to silver at the European Youth Olympic Festival a month ago.

The five-man British team performed well throughout, with Banks achieving a personal best on parallel bars, the final apparatus.

“It all felt like a dream knowing we had won a European medal,” said Banks.

“I was bursting with pride knowing that the team had brought the confidence and never gave up.

“I’m now back in the gym training hard and working on harder and better routines for next year’s competitions, with the Junior Worlds and British Championships on the horizon.”
