Lordswood conceded two late tries to hand Warlingham a 29-7 victory – and there was more bad news after Saturday's game for coach Paul Essenhigh.

Lordswood are bottom of London League 3 South East, and Essenhigh said: “As part of the league’s restructuring for next season, we had initially understood there would be no relegation from our division this year.

“But then we heard that one team would be going down, and now we have been told that two teams will definitely be relegated.”

That completed a miserable weekend for Essenhigh, whose side competed well against Warlingham for most of the game, before losing their way in the final 10 minutes.

After falling 10-0 behind to a penalty and a penalty try, Lordswood hit back when Lee Evans crashed over for a try, converted by James Dorman.

Although the hosts extended their lead to 17-7 at the break with a converted try, Lords gave as good as they got before fading late on.

Medway stay top of Kent 1 after beating Dartfordians 14-10, but Gillingham Anchorians slipped to fourth from bottom of the table as a result of their 30-8 defeat at Erith.

In Kent 2, Old Williamsonians were beaten 22-8 by leaders HSBC.
