THE search for Gillingham’s new manager continues with Brian Little emerging as one of the favourites for the job.

Little has a wealth of experience, having managed at the top level with Aston Villa, as well as taking the helm at lower league sides Tranmere and Hull.

He is one of a number of managers believed to have been interviewed by Gillingham chairman Paul Scally.

The chairman’s decision on who will be the successor to Ronnie Jepson is believed to be imminent.

Mr Scally has been assessing a number of high quality applicants this week but said he didn’t want to rush into a decision and has declined to be drawn on the suitability of any of the candidates.

Among other names that have been linked to the post are Martin Allen, Micky Adams, John Gorman, Graham Rix and Brian Kidd.

Mr Scally will leave caretaker managers Mick Docherty and Iffy Onuora in charge again against Leeds tomorrow (Saturday).

“It’s not a quick process,” said Mr Scally.

“I want to take my time to assess all the candidates.

“I have every faith in Iffy Onuora and Mick Docherty to get all three points against Leeds at the weekend.”
