Gillingham loanees Adam El-Abd, Dominic Samuel and George Williams are all injury concerns

Injury concerns surround three of Gillingham loanees ahead of the Port Vale clash.

Defender Adam El-Abd limped off on Tuesday night, while striker Dominic Samuel and attacking midfielder George Williams weren’t involved.

El-Abd and Williams are doubts for the clash on Saturday and boss Justin Edinburgh has already ruled out Reading frontman Samuel.

Losing Bristol City loanee El-Abd would be a big blow. The 31-year-old defender has been impressive at the back and he came off during the Walsall midweek clash with a groin injury.

The Gills haven’t conceded a goal with him playing since the 2-1 defeat at Fleetwood on March 1.

Edinburgh said: “He had a tight groin and we will have to assess that.

“You can’t buy his kind of experience and that’s what he has bought in abundance, as well as his character and what he is about."

Samuel will be missing again with a knee injury that parent club Reading are taking no gambles with.

The Gills boss said: “He has had his knee drained and injected but probably won’t be fit for Saturday. We are probably looking beyond that now.”

Fulham’s Williams limped out of the Sheffield United game with a nerve problem. Hopes were that he would have recovered by midweek but that wasn’t the case.

“We thought that would have settled,” said the Gills boss.
