Ineligible soccer player wins...and loses

A JUNIOR soccer team have been deducted a huge 27 points by the Medway Messenger Sunday League for repeatedly fielding an ineligible player.

Howard Cooper played under the name of Howard Collins for Princes Park, a Division 6 side, in nine fixtures this season, all of which they won.

Cooper has been given a life ban by the league while the club, in addition to their points deduction, have been fined £350, of which £250 will be suspended.

League secretary Colin Boswell said: “It is the most severe punishment ever handed out by the league to a single club.”
