Gillingham will have to wait before finding out if Luke Norris' injury is serious

Gillingham face an anxious wait before finding out the nature of Luke Norris’ latest injury.

The 22-year-old striker limped off in stoppage-time in Saturday's match against Bradford after a defensive challenge left him nursing a sore ankle.

He has only recently returned from a two month lay-off with an ankle injury on the opposite side.

Boss Justin Edinburgh hopes the latest injury isn’t a serious one.

“We are waiting to see,” said the manager.

“He was compressed with ice and we will have to look at that over the next 24-48 hours. Hopefully it is not too bad.

“Fingers crossed, because he has worked really hard to get himself back on the pitch, and it would be a real big disappointment if it is (serious). Hopefully it is not as bad as we first feared.”

Norris was sidelined with his first injury after landing awkwardly in the game at Crewe in the middle of October.

He made a quicker than expected recovery and came off the bench at Millwall just before Christmas.

Norris replaced Rory Donnelly on Saturday after 65 minutes but was helped off the field late on in Gillingham’s 3-0 win.

The Gills are already a striker down following Cody McDonald’s foot break in the game at Millwall.
