Josh Wright praised “spot-on” boss Justin Edinburgh after helping the Gills bag another three points.

Gillingham midfielder Wright believes Edinburgh’s man-management has been a key part in the success that the team have had so far this season.

Wright said: “The gaffer is top drawer and what he says to us during the week, before games, at half-time, everything he says is absolutely spot-on.

“It means so much. I have played under some top managers and what he says is fantastic. It’s probably the best that I have had.

“So much of what he says comes into us and we can then relate to it. It makes sense and it helps, it plays a big part.

“He might have only been a manager for a short amount of years but he started low down and built himself up. He will go on. He is that good.

“At the moment Gillingham is his club and it means everything to him.

“I can really relate to him and so can all of the boys. He says things at the right time and knows when to step in and when to stand back. Those things are huge.

“They can mean so much in a manager and he has got that. It helps us and points us in the right direction.

“You can get managers who will completely distance themselves and you might not see them for a few days, I have seen that before and I don’t like it. You also get it where maybe they are in and around the place when they shouldn’t be.

“He knows when and where he should be and when he should step in and say something. It is massive. Those things are huge. That is what he has got. He is fantastic.”
