Gillingham defender Christian Maghoma back at the club after loan spell with National League side Eastleigh

Defender Christian Maghoma is back at Gillingham following a half-season loan at National League side Eastleigh.

Maghoma, 24, played 17 games for the Spitfires in the league but has now returned to Priestfield at the end of his deal. The non-league club recently sacked their manager Ben Strevens following a 1-0 loss to bottom side Dover Athletic.

The defender clearly enjoyed his time there and he Tweeted: “Just wanted to say a thank you to Eastleigh FC for the time that I’ve had there.

“Been a real pleasure to play for the club, the fans, the lads, Strevs, Jase and Ross for how you welcomed me and treated me from start to finish.”

Maghoma was signed by former manager Steve Evans in the summer of 2020 after previously being with Polish side Arka Gdynia. He made just four league appearances in his first season at Priestfield.

He played for the Gills in a League Cup match against Crewe in August of this season but by the end of the month he was at Eastleigh.
