Invicta Dynamos in NIHL South Division 1 action against Solent Devils and Oxford City Stars this weekend

Invicta Dynamos return to action this weekend and head coach Karl Lennon hopes his team can start picking up more points.

Positive performances haven’t always been rewarded with a win and they start 2023 against the side who narrowly beat them last time out - Solent Devils winning 2-1 at Planet Ice.

The Mos play them away on Saturday before returning to Gillingham and taking on Oxford City Stars on Sunday (5.15pm).

“I am always striving to get more from the team,” said Lennon, who has seen his side compete well in NIHL South Division 1,

“I think consistency is our biggest enemy, we have good performances followed by close losses. It is not the consistency on the performances I am worried about too much, it is the results now.

“A game like Solent, where for the lion’s share we were in control of certain situations, we need to now make those wins.

“That will come with time and experience because we are a new team together. We just have to have some patience with it.

“We can’t be too high, or too low about situations, we have to keep working hard and the support we are getting is unwavering. The fans are getting behind us every week, regardless of the score, they can see everyone is fighting for the badge and that is all you can ask for as a coach.

“I said to the team after the last game, I can’t question their work ethic and a lot of their application. Sometimes they deviate from the plan, that is just inexperience, but in time they will start to understand that can’t happen and if you stick to it then often results will follow.”

The Mos have won four of their 13 league games and have made it through to the semi-finals of the League Cup, which take place next weekend.

Before that, Lennon will be hoping for points to close in on those leading sides. They currently sit fifth in the eight-team table.

“It is another tough week,” Lennon said. “We know where we are, we will take confidence from the last performance against Solent because we matched them for much of the game and we want to now get results against teams like that.

“That is how we are going to close to gape to the top, we have to beat the teams above us more consistently.”
