Canterbury Men won the Kent derby against Holcombe on Sunday.

In an eight-goal thriller Canterbury stormed into a two goal lead, but found themselves behind in the second half, as Holcombe scored three goals in five minutes.

Canterbury responded well, however, and a trio of goals late on made it four wins from four in the Men’s Conference East.

Two goals from Lloyd Norris-Jones in the first half hour put Canterbury in the driving seat but their lead was wiped out after the interval.

Former Canterbury man David Mathews started Holcombe’s revival, with a penalty strike, and Liam Foster levelled the scores.

The turnaround was complete when Samuel Lund scored from a penalty corner.

Canterbury hit back though and Matt Harper made it 3-3, Michael Farrer restored their lead and Norris-Jones completed his hat-trick and maintained his side’s hundred per cent start to the season.

It was Holcombe’s second successive defeat and they sit third from bottom.

Sevenoaks Men brushed aside City of Peterborough with a 6-2 win.

Tim Warrington got the goals going in the 12th minute and from a penalty corner Pete Turner doubled the lead. Warrington made it three before Peterborough pulled one back before the break.

Goals from Stuart McDade and Neil Smith put Sevenoaks 5-1 up, the visitors managed another goal back, but Smith ended the scoring with the side’s sixth.

Bromley & Beckenham remain unbeaten in the Conference East but they had to settle for a second straight 2-2 draw on Sunday.

A last minute goal from Matthew Baggs earned Bromley their point against Oxted.

Nick Bluett had put Bromley ahead but Oxted scored twice. They were heading towards victory before Baggs’ last minute penalty corner goal levelled the game.
