Laura Arnold produced a personal best high jump at the England Athletics Championships to claim the under-15 English title.

Medway & Maidstone athlete Arnold jumped 1.65m to win the competition during last weekend’s event in Bedford.

The Rainham School for Girls year 10 pupil had produced a 1.62m in July at Lee Valley and has been making steady progress throughout the year.

A three centimetre improvement was enough for the 14-year-old to claim the English under-15 title, amid fierce competition from the other 14 contenders.

The next best jump during the competition was a 1.61m, from Bexley’s Rebecca Hawkins and Rebecca Oliver (City of Sheffield).

She has been a member at M&M for four years and has broken the high jump club record, the javelin club record and has broken the pentathlon club record twice. She is also the Kent Schools High Jump champion.
