A little girl who suffered a stroke at the age of two has had her dreams come true thanks to Medway Messenger readers.

Milly Johnson, who is now four, enjoyed a magical holiday to Disney World in Florida.

Earlier this year her parents Maria and Simon, of Peal Close, Hoo, appealed for readers' help to take her to Disney World. She has just returned from the 10-day trip.

Maria, 35, said: "It was quite an emotional trip. Milly absolutely adores Disney and it was wonderful to see her waving to all the characters. Her dreams really have come true."

Milly's favourite part of the holiday was meeting her hero Mickey Mouse.

Maria said: "She was so excited. She couldn't wait to have her photo taken with him and couldn't stop cuddling and kissing him. She was amazed to see Cinderella's castle and she enjoyed watching the parades. She was waving to the characters and shouting their names."

In January, Milly underwent a four-hour operation - known as a hemispherectomy - to disconnect half her brain.

Milly, who goes to Little Saints Nursery in Hoo, suffered a stroke when she was two, leaving her with a severe form of epilepsy, causing up to 10 seizures a day. Since the surgery Milly has not suffered a seizure.

Her parents appealed to Medway Messenger readers to help them raise £5,000 for Milly's dream holiday.

Following an article in the Medway Messenger, donations came flooding in, and in just six months the family collected the cash they needed.

Maria said: "We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated money to make this dream holiday come true. It would have not been possible without the help of the Medway Messenger readers, local businesses, friends and family. We can't thank everyone enough."
