A horrified woman found a masked burglar in her house.

She discovered he had broken into her property in Borstal Street, Rochester, at around 3.40am today.

The suspect ran away after the victim raised the alarm. Nothing was reported stolen.

Kent Police say the suspect is being Asian, with dark short black hair and wearing a dark top and a blue face mask.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Craig Hewitt of Medway’s CID team said: "Thankfully this type of incident is very rare.

"We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously in the area and would encourage anyone with information to get in touch."
