Woman sexually assaulted at Great Lines Park near Sally Port Gardens, Gillingham

A woman has told police she was sexually assaulted on the Great Lines Heritage Park in Gillingham earlier today.

Officers say they are investigating the incident and sealed off an area of the park where it meets Sally Port Gardens.

The incident is said to have happened at about 9am but no arrests have been made and officers say inquiries are ongoing.

One man who walked passed while officers were at the scene, but didn’t want to be named, said: “It was at the entrance to Sally Port Gardens.

“Police had sealed the area off and were searching it.”

A spokesman for police said: “Kent Police is investigating a report of a sexual assault on a woman at the Great Lines at 9am.

“Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has information is asked to contact Kent Police on 101 quoting incident number 27-397.
