Woman who died after falling from The Brook car park near The Pentagon Centre, Chatham, named by coroner as Seraphina Boswell

A woman who died after falling from a multi-storey car park has been named by the coroner.

Seraphina Boswell, 55, from Gillingham, is understood to have fallen from The Brook car park, Chatham, on Wednesday afternoon.

At least six police vehicles and four ambulances were on the scene from about 2pm but she could not be saved.

Areas of the car park remained cordoned off until later on Wednesday evening.

One witness said he saw a woman fall from the car park onto the ramp leading to the Pentagon centre below, while another who arrived after the incident said he could see a woman on a stretcher with four paramedics around her.

Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said: "We were called shortly before 2pm to reports of a fall from height.

"A woman, aged approximately in her 50s, was treated at the scene by paramedics.

"Sadly their efforts to save the life of the woman proved unsuccessful and she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

The death is not being treated as suspicious and an inquest was opened at Maidstone's Coroner's Court on Friday. A full inquest will be held at a later date.
