Medway's Hannah Wildes through to next round of The Voice

Medway's Hannah Wildes has got through to the next round of The Voice.

The 24-year-old sang in the fifth round of blind auditions in last night’s show on BBC One, following in the footsteps of Medway singers Joseph Apostol and Jamie Johnson who performed on the show.

She said: "It was a really surreal experience, as I was walking down the stairs I could see one of their shoes and I thought oh my god, they're actually sitting there.

"It was nerve wracking but I decided I'm just going to perform because there's an audience, and it doesn't matter if anyone turns around.

"I told myself I would try not to react if they did as I wanted to look professional, but when Rita turned around I think I cracked a smile."

Hannah grew up in London, and moved to Walderslade when she was 17. She works in a dermatology unit in Borough Green.

She picked Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilsion as her mentor.

She said: "Before I went on, I always thought that Ricky was a cool guy and he fronts a band and I'm a song writer too and I always through he suited me better as a coach."

For now she is just pleased to be through, and is looking forward to the next rounds.

"My main aim was to get through the blinds, I'm really excited about the battle rounds," she said.

"I love watching it and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

"But it's a tv show at the end of the day and I have been writing and working in the industry for sometime so I know what I'm getting myself into.

"I'm happy to have such great exposure and I'm just taking each stage as it comes."
