Summer storm: Lightning strikes Gillingham house

Firefighters battled a blaze in a home which was set alight by lightning.

Four crews were called at 3.30pm today, Tuesday, to Fox Street, Gillingham.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said flames had broken out in the house's roof.

The spokesman added: "Crews have searched the property and the fire is still in progress. We are not yet able to confirm if anyone is inside."
