Motorists faced delays today, after a lorry shed its load on the one way system, in Strood Town Centre.

The HGV lorry lost its load close to the Matalan store in Strood Retail Park, shortly before 1pm.

It is thought the lorry may have been turning from Commercial Road onto Knight Road, when the accident happened.

The town centre was grid-locked after police closed the road to deal with the incident.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "A nearby timber yard helped to pick up the load with one of its fork-lift trucks.

"Police supervised this and diversions were put in place."

The road was reopened at about 2pm.
