Strood man charged with rape

A Strood man accused of sexual assault on two pensioners has been charged with raping a 12-year-old boy.

Gurjinder Narman, 21, of London Road, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court last Thursday (Nov 5) accused of assaulting the two women aged 85 and 79.

During the hearing, Narman was also charged with the rape, which was reported to police on Thursday, August 13, in Strood.

One of the alleged attacks on the pensioners took place in Gravesend while the other was reported in Strood.

Narman has been remanded in custody and will next appear at the same court via video link on Tuesday, November 17.

It is alleged that in both cases the pensioners, who cannot be named, were confronted on their doorsteps by a man who forced his way into their homes.

A statement realeased by the Crown Prosecution Service says after being assaulted, the women, described as vulnerable, were able to push away their attacker before he fled the scene.

Narman was charged with two counts of knowingly trespassing to commit a sexual offence and sexual assault, in relation to the attacks on the pensioners.

One offence is said to have happened in Strood on Sunday, October 4 and the other in Gravesend on Saturday, June 27.

He is yet to enter a plea any of the charges.

In relation to the rape charge, Narman has been committed to crown court and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, November 20.
