Officers from the roads policing unit included a picture of its Petards speed computer and recorder displaying 102mph.

"RPU1 have just stopped a vehicle travelling 102mph between Junction 3 and Junction 2 of the M2," they said.

"As we spoke with the driver, we realised a child in the back who was not secured in a child seat - not to mention the wet and miserable conditions today.

"Driver reported and ticket issued."

It prompted other social media users to praise the specialist patrol unit.

"Great work. Thank you for making the roads safer for the rest of us.

"(I) bet the only one excited to see the officers was the kid in the back of the offending vehicle," Michael Scott said.

Jonathan Groves added: "Thank you for your service, keep safe."
