Twelve wooden sign posts have disappeared overnight from a country park in Medway.

The sign posts were taken from the Riverside Country Park in Lower Rainham Road, Gillingham, at some point between 5pm on Saturday, July 17 and 9.45pm the next day.

The posts are valued at £1,500 and were taken from an area of the park known as Horrid Hill.

Police have launched an investigation into the their disappearance and are appealing for anyone who may have been walking in the area and witnessed anything to contact them.

A spokesman said: “Officers believe the wooden posts, some of which were oak, would have been sawn off, possibly using a chain saw and then taken away.”
