Rider survives motorbike bursting into flames while travelling on Gravesend Road, Higham

A man is lucky to be alive after his brand new motorcycle burst into flames as he was riding it, fire crews say.

The biker was travelling on Gravesend Road in Higham late last night when he was forced to quickly pull over when he spotted his vehicle was on fire.

He had only bought the motorbike that day.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Services said: "There was nothing left to salvage. It was completely destroyed."

Incredibly, the man escaped the incident with no injuries.

A recovery truck was called to remove the remains of his brand new vehicle.

Firefighters were at the scene for half-an-hour.
