Reggie Smith, 25, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today, where he pleaded guilty to being a courier of Class A drugs.

Smith, of Maidstone Road, Rainham, was driving along Lordwood Lane, in Chatham, in August last year when he was pulled over by police.

His van was searched and the drugs were found in his possession. He was found with 63.7 grams of crystal MDMA, with an estimated street value of £2,500.

This amount of the drug would have made around 900 ecstasy pills.

DS Rob Haines from the serious crime directorate, said: “We are dedicated to taking drugs off of the streets and making our neighbourhoods even safer.

“I am confident that this sentence sends a message to those involved in the drugs supply network that their illegal activity will not be tolerated.

“We will not hesitate in targeting dealers, arresting them and putting them before the courts.

“The directorate is committed to relentlessly pursuing those involved in the supply and distribution of controlled drugs and will continue to work with residents and our partner agencies to build stronger, safer neighbourhoods.”
