Sadness turned to joy for young brothers Nathan and Daniel Laraman who have their stolen scooters back.

The boys were devastated when the new scooters were taken from the garage of their home in Wheatcroft Grove, Rainham, before they even had a chance to ride them.

Mum Helen Tamsett appealed in the Medway Messenger for the return of the scooters, which were bought as surprise presents.

Days after the story appeared, Helen got a call to say they had been handed in at Medway police station.

Police would only say they had been found by someone in Edwin Road, Rainham.

Helen, 26, said: “It seemed a bit of a coincidence that we got the call just after it went in your paper.

"Perhaps it may have pricked somebody’s conscience and seeing the picture of the boys looking glum may have pulled a few heartstrings.

Since then Nathan, seven, and Daniel, six, have been out on the scooters all the time. Helen said: “We thought there was no chance of seeing the scooters again.

"The boys are absolutely delighted. Thank you Medway Messenger.”
