Witnesses reported seeing officers in Warren Wood Road, Rochester, throughout Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Police are still at the scene for a third day and a blue tent is still outside the property.

On Tuesday, counter terrorism officers revealed a man was arrested on suspicion of terror-related offences in Rochester.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East spokesman Parmvir Singh said yesterday morning: "The investigation is ongoing and we will not be releasing any further information at this stage.

"When we are in a position to release a further update, we will."

Yesterday a witness said she believed a man described as a white British Muslim convert had been arrested nearby.

It is believed the arrest may have a connection with activity earlier that day in nearby St Williams Way, also in Rochester.

Officers were seen searching gardens at the front and back of the property.

Witnesses saw them lifting drains. Several police vehicles were parked outside the property.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police is carrying out a search warrant at a private residential address in Rochester as part of a pre-planned and on-going investigation.

"A man has been arrested and is currently in custody.

"There is a police presence at the address while the investigation continues, but there is no cause for alarm for local residents."
