M2: Police seal off motorway after man struck by van

Police closed of a section of a motorway at midnight to search for a man who had been struck by the wing mirror of a van.

Officers responded to a report of a man being hit by the van close to Junction 4 of the M2 at 11.59pm yesterday.

It was reported the man had been walking on the London-bound section of the motorway before being involved in a collision with the wing mirror of the vehicle.

Officers attended the area and following a search, which involved the closure of both directions of the M2, the man was located in a nearby field without injury.

He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
