Police officer investigated after posting comments on Facebook

A Medway police officer has sparked an internal investigation after apparently posting inappropriate comments on Facebook.

The male officer, who has not been named, is believed to have
posted comments about colleagues on the social networking site.

It is not clear what he wrote about but it was spotted and
senior officers have now referred the matter to the forces
Professional Standards department.

The standards department have launched an investigation into the
incident, but it is believed the officer has not been suspended
over the allegations.

All police would confirm is that there is a current internal
investigation regarding the use of facebook by an officer.

Chief Supt, Steve Corbishley, area commander of Medway Police
added: "Any use of social networking sites that is deemed to be
inappropriate will be immediately referred to our Professional
Standards department and an investigation will take place.

"All officers and staff are expected to uphold exemplary
standards of professionalism and conduct as part of our Kent
Standard.

"Any breach of force protocol is not acceptable and will be
taken very seriously."
