Police officer air-lifted to hospital after Strood stabbing

A police officer was air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in Strood.

Police are appealing for information after the assault, which took place in the High Street during the early hours of this morning.

It is reported that the victim - an off-duty officer - had been visiting a takeaway in Commercial Road prior to the incident, where the suspect was involved in a verbal altercation.

He was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance for treatment.

Officers continue to search for the person responsible.
