Police link four Medway car chase arrests with burglaries in Gillingham and Strood

Four teenagers have been arrested following a police chase are being linked with six burglaries in the Medway area.

At about 4.20am today, officers stopped a suspicious car on the Wainscott Bypass.

They arrested four teenagers aged between 17 and 19.

The black vehicle is believed to be linked to six burglaries committed in Gillingham and Strood between Saturday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 30.

Areas targeted include the Carnation Road and Columbine Road areas of Strood and East Court Road in Gillingham.

In two incidents residents reported that handbags had been stolen from inside properties and others reported there were signs of an attempted forced entry but nothing had been stolen.

Earlier in the week, a woman told KentOnline how her house had been broken into.

Chloe Head, 25, captured two men breaking into her house in Strood on CCTV on Tuesday morning (July 30).

She said: "They didn't actually take anything but they came in the house and my dogs barked and scared them off.

"One came in and the other watched. Everyone is so anxious.

"We got burgled a couple of years ago so we are just getting over that."

Detective Sergeant Richard Taylor said: "Burglary is an intrusive offence and one which we take extremely seriously.

"We would like to reassure residents that each burglary report we receive is investigated thoroughly."
