Three charged after 'armed incident' in Cavendish Avenue, Gillingham

Three people have now been charged after two were injured in a disturbance in a residential area.

A man and a woman were charged last Thursday after being arrested following an incident the previous day in Cavendish Avenue, Gillingham.

Amelia Waters, 26, of Station Road, Rainham, faces charges of wounding with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Liam Hudson, 27, also of Station Road, Rainham, was charged with wounding with intent, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Yesterday, a third suspect, Ruben White, 27, of no fixed address, was charged with assault, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and wounding with intent.

All three have been remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, December 2.

It comes after officers were called to the residential street on Wednesday morning to reports two men aged 52 and 33 had been assaulted by three people who were known to them.

Both men were taken to hospital, with the older victim having suffered head injuries. They have since been discharged.

Officers, including armed units and the police helicopter, searched for the suspects.

The road was closed off for several hours in the aftermath, with several police cars and officers seen in the street.

A police spokesman confirmed armed officers were called "following a reported sighting of a weapon during the disturbance".

Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.
